Beasiswa ADB (Asian Development Bank) - Japan Scholarship Program was established with financing from the Government of Japan to provide an opportunity for well qualified citizens of the Bank’s Developing Member Countries (DMCs) to undertake postgraduate studies which will assist the economic and social development of their countries at University of Sydney Australia.
Each scholarship covers full tuition fees, an allowance for books and instructional materials, a monthly living allowance, medical insurance and travel expenses. For scholars engaged in research, a special grant may be applied to assist in field work and thesis preparation. Dari jumlah tersebut, sebagian besar adalah mereka yang menerima beasiswa, baik dari pemerintah Jepang, instansi maupun perusahaan lainnya. Beasiswa Pemerintah Jepang yang cukup dikenal oleh masyarakat Indonesia adalah beasiswa dari Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Olah Raga, Ilmu Pengetahuan dan Teknologi Jepang (Monbukagakusho/ MEXT). Beasiswa ini meliputi biaya studi dan biaya hidup, tanpa ikatan apapun.
Kedutaan Besar Jepang di Indonesia dan Konsulatnya di Surabaya, Medan dan Makassar setiap tahun melaksanakan pendaftaran dan penyeleksian bagi para peminat beasiswa Monbukagakusho. Adapun program-program yang ditawarkan kepada siswa Indonesia adalah Program Research Student bagi lulusan perguruan tinggi, Undergraduate, College of Technology dan Professional Training College bagi lulusan SLTA dan Japanese Studies bagi mahasiswa program studi Jepang serta Teacher Training bagi guru.

School of International Health, The University of Tokyo offers advanced study and research opportunities under the Asian Development Bank-Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP) for oversea students from ADB member countries. Applicants for this program must have a citizenship or nationality of a developing country among the ADB member countries. The ADB-JSP at our school is designated for the Masters and Doctors Program that usually lasts for two years (for Mastes) and three years (for Doctors) and commences on 1st April every year. Language used in the program is English.
